What to have ready when you call
A minute of preparation helps the dispatcher give you the right first steps.
- The address, including the unit or building number if you live in a condo or townhouse.
- What is happening, such as where the water is coming from or which drains are backing up.
- Whether you can reach the shutoff valve and whether you have already closed it.
- Any access details, such as a gate code, a lockbox or a pet that needs to be put away.
- The best number to reach you if the call drops.
